Brown Unicorn Chest is adapted from a design on a chest painted for Margaret Kernen in 1788. This pattern was thought to be derived from the work of fraktur artist Heinrich Otto. The style of woodwork of the original chest is consistent with chests found in Lancaster County, PA.
