This brightly painted chest  pattern comes from a chest over drawers dated 1769, possibly of Berks County origin. (Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Museum, Williamsburg, VA) The panel on top is just right for personalization with a name or initials. The smaller panel on the front is meant for a special date.
